Celebrating two accelerated redevelopments in Manurewa

Housing New Zealand was very proud to receive the keys of two newly complete redevelopments in Manurewa that now house as many as 68 Aucklanders.

The new two-level homes at Pallant and Smedley Streets and Wordsworth Road were built by Precision Construction at an accelerated rate.

In March of this year, two 1970s houses were situated on the Pallant Smedley site. Within 6 months the 2 homes were demolished and replaced with 5 new homes. There are now 2 two-bedroom, 1 three-bedroom and 2 four-bedroom homes.

For our second redevelopment on Wordsworth Road, construction started in December 2016 replacing 3 older style homes with 8 new homes. There are now 2 two-bedroom, 1 three-bedroom, and 3 four-bedroom homes.

Both redevelopments are an example of how we are replacing our old housing stock with new, warm, dry and safe homes. Redeveloping our existing land holdings allows us to house more people by using an individual site to its full potential which is critical in Auckland’s pressured housing market.

“There are a lot of big changes coming to Manurewa. Right now we have 5 sites under construction with an additional 3 sites scheduled for construction in early 2018. These redevelopments will see over 150 new warm, dry and safe homes built,” says Senior Development Manager Jo Charlton.
