Old house given new life

Back
18 March 2019

Moving house took on new meaning recently. A tired old duplex received a spruce up at Spring Hill Corrections Facility as part of a Housing New Zealand / Department of Corrections Waikato partnership which teaches prisoners construction skills to help them get employment on release.

Once refurbished at the prison, the house was lifted onto a truck and transported from Spring Hill to its new location in Massey, West Auckland. It's a bit of a steep site but luckily neighbouring Colwill School let us move the house over their field and onto the Housing New Zealand property.

Just foundation and other finishing work to go before tenants settle into their 'good as new' 2 one-bedroom warm, dry homes.
