Tamaki Transformation Programme invites community to share two-year action plan

The Tamaki Transformation Programme (TTP) is hosting a public meeting and open information evenings in December to share the programme's two-year action plan with residents and members of the Tamaki community. The plan represents a milestone for the programme, as it lays the early foundations for the ambitious 20-year urban renewal initiative.

"We are excited about sharing the action plan with the wider community, as it is a result of extensive consultation and work with many stakeholders, including members of the Tamaki community, partner agencies and organisations, as well as professional input from the TTP team," says Programme Director, Jenny Oxley.

"These open evenings are about taking this work a step further by sharing our plan with the Tamaki community to gain feedback, as well as provide detail to those who want to know more.

"This is a chance for the Panmure, Glen Innes and Pt England communities to meet our team face-to-face and to ask any questions they would like answered about the TTP and the areas of focus, such as education, housing, and social services.

"We look forward to meeting those we have not yet met at the event, as we recognise that we cannot achieve better results for the people of Tamaki without a strong community voice, leadership and support."

Over the next 12 months, the TTP will be hosting other community events including workshops, forums and information sessions.

The event will be held on:

  • Wednesday, 02 December, Panmure Community Centre, from 7.30pm-9.30pm
  • Monday, 07 December, Glen Innes Community Centre, from 4:30pm-6pm

About the Tamaki Transformation Programme

The New Zealand Government has invested in a huge urban renewal initiative - The Tamaki Transformation Programme (the Programme).

The Programme has been created to enable central and local government to pool resources, plan together and work in a new way with the people and businesses of Tamaki to deliver real results and positive change for local people.

Over the past decade, the people of Tamaki have been asked how they would like their community to develop. Central and local government agencies have listened and are now acting to help the Tamaki community achieve its goals, through the Programme.

The key stakeholders involved are: The Tamaki Community; Housing New Zealand Corporation; Ministry of Social Development; Auckland City Council; Auckland District Health Board; Ministry of Education; NZ Police; Te Puni Kokiri; and Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs.

By working together, across government with the community and the private sector, strengths and investments can be leveraged to change results in nine key areas. These are:

  • Skills employment and economic development
  • Housing
  • Safety and security
  • Environment and stability
  • Education
  • Health
  • Identity and culture
  • Social services
  • Operations excellence.
