Emergency housing

Housing New Zealand is not an emergency housing provider; we provide state rental properties for those in the highest need for as long as they need them.

Customers can call us to ask about state housing at the Customer Services Centre on 0800 801 601.  This service is available from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm Monday to Friday. Housing advisors quickly assess the level of urgency and, as necessary, book them in for a full needs assessment within 2 working days, referring them in the meantime to local emergency housing providers if required.
