Annual Report 2010-2011

21 October 2011

Housing New Zealand Corporation has published its 2010-2011 Annual Report which lists the Corporation's achievements over the last year, and progress made against the Statement of Intent 2010-2013. As the Report explains the achievements have been considerable.

The Corporation has tightened its focus on services directly related to our core purpose of delivering housing solutions to those with the greatest need, and we are now at the stage with our transformation programme where we are changing the way we work and the way we deliver our services.

At the same time as managing these changes, in the last year the Corporation has dealt with major operational and strategic challenges, including the Christchurch earthquakes, while ensuring our core business was maintained.

Key highlights of 2010/11 include:

  • A quick and comprehensive initial response to the Canterbury earthquakes, and the development of a strategic plan to guide our medium to long term recovery work
  • Delivering within budget significantly more property upgrades than was targeted
  • Reviewing the Social Allocation System criteria, and implementing this new criteria as well as reviewable tenancies for new tenants on July 1 2011.
  • Developing the first national Tactical Plan to deliver on the 10 year Asset Management Strategy
