Housing New Zealand owns or manages around 64,000 properties across New Zealand and houses around 182,000 people.

A big part of our role is ensuring that our existing homes are well maintained, and in 2015/16 we spent close to $500 million on ensuring they are warm, dry and of a good standard.

We also have a strong focus on redevelopment and building new, modern homes designed to meet the needs of our tenants today and into the future. These new properties are being built in high demand areas such as Auckland and as part of our on-going rebuild work in Christchurch following the Canterbury earthquakes.
